Clients

often ask…

  • What skill level is the training for?

For experienced professionals the course is a useful sharpener, for early-career designers it provides the fundamentals of good communication. It is aimed at designers who have some responsibility for speaking with clients or stakeholders. Groups are often mixed experience from newly qualified to partner level.

  • What type of communications skills are covered?

Design Communication Training programme teaches the fundamentals of one-to-one spoken  communication; whether that’s speaking in a meeting, on the phone, in a restaurant or inside a digital environment. It doesn’t teach one-to-many communication skills such as public speaking, written or visual communication.

  • Where does the training happen?

Workshops can be delivered at your place of work or an independent workspace. We offer limited individual coaching online. But we don't offer group online training because it doesn't offer the level of connection needed.

  • How long does it take?

Courses usually take place over 5 workshops of 2 hours each, but can be tailored to suit your requirements.

  • How many people can take part?

The course consists of up to five group workshops for 8-12 participants. Larger cohorts can be split into sub-groups.

  • Who delivers the training?

Workshops are led by Tom Coupe. Some are additionally supported by our expert training team.

  • What if I just need help with something specific?

We can plan a more focussed programme if you want to develop particular skills. Limited sessions for one-to-one coaching are available on request.

  • How is the course structured?

The Design Communication Training programme covers 10 fundamental skills organised over three basic topics: Audience, Storytelling and Meeting Skills.

  • Can I get CPD points?

The course is not CPD accredited but if you want it we can get it no problem.
